Bono Mack Calls for Lower Corporate Taxes

Local Congresswoman says lower taxes and tighter spending controls are key in rebounding the economy.

Congresswoman Mary Bono Mack called for less government regulation in business this morning and lower tax rates when she spoke at a breakfast meeting of the Palm Desert Area Chamber of Commerce.

“To get our country back on track, we need to lower the corporate tax rate, “ she said to the pro-business crowd of about 150. “The reason we’re not competitive, the reason so many businesses are fleeing is because the corporate tax rate in America is punitive.”

Bono Mack also called on multi-national companies to repatriate profits to create more American jobs.

“One of my goals and my quests as Chairman of Subcommittee on Commerce, Manufacturing and Trade is to make ‘Made in America” matter again,” she said.

The Congresswoman is running for an 8th term in November. The only Democrat to announce plans to run against her is Dr. Raul Ruiz. Due to redistricting, both will run in the newly formed 36th Congressional District, covering central and eastern Riverside County.

Bono Mack says her re-election campaign will focus on the economy and jobs.

When asked if she sees any viable contenders to take her seat in Congress, Bono Mack said “When you’re a Representative, you’re campaigning all the time.  You just have to hope that you’re doing the right thing for your constituents and let the election take care of itself.

The Congresswoman is backing a Congressional Investigation into over $500-million in government loans to the failed solar energy company Solyndra.  She used that as an example of out-of-control spending as part of a energy policy that shouldn’t be focused on solar power, saying we need an “all of the above” approach.

“The number one threat to our country is out of control spending.  43 cents out of every dollar spent is coming out of our children’s pockets.”  Bono Mack went on to say the government needs to find a “flatter version” of the current tax code, noting that any flat tax plan will eliminate write-offs for home mortgages.

Bono Mack also rallied for tighter controls on foreign aid.

“First of all, if they’re not a friends of ours, don’t send them money,” The congresswoman said.  “If they’re not a friend of freedom and democracy, quit sending them money.  Why should we be sending China money for anything?”

Lowering Corporate taxes may not be popular with the Occupy wall street crowd, but it is the right way to get this stagnant economy moving.
Tighter controls on foreign aid..... you get my vote.
Why are we send foreign aid to China ? They should be send it to us!

Good for you, Mary Bobo Mack

I wonder if Bono-Mack mentioned that she voted for the "Energy Policy Act of 2005" which provided the loan program that funded Solyndra? Did she mention the loan committee did its due diligence on Solyndra while Bush was in office? That the loan was on the short list of promising applications in October of 2007?

During the period 2007-2008 Solyndra spent $1.8 million on lobbyists. Odds are good they were lobbying the Department of Energy people that cooked up this loan program, and not making Obama campaign contributions. The final loan commitment was made in March of 2009; two months after Obama was inaugurated.

I understand the concern. Obama was in office two whole months before the check was signed. Since some of the great thinkers of our day, such as Mary Bono-Mack, had voted for the whole loan program he obviously felt OK about it and decided to give the bureaucrats the benefit of doubt. I certainly hope he has learned his lesson.

You are correct Mrs. Bono Mack, we should not be giving $65,000,000. to China in foreign aid. That amount should come directly off the top of what we owe them (and we owe them lots!!!!). Corporate taxes should be fair and equitable. If you lower taxes on corporations to create jobs, those jobs should be in the US and should stay in the US with a base salary that allows at least an average income and pays benefits that match those of our elected officials. When jobs are moved out of the US, tax bases for those corporations should be adjusted accordingly. However, no corporation should pay no taxes. All incentives should be to create and keep GOOD jobs here in the US with added incentives if the jobs are created in economically depressed areas. Mrs. Bono Mack I like your mild streak of independence, but I still feel you too often vote with the pack mentality that keeps congress tied up in knots.

Mary I for one am truly happy that the new 36th district will have you for its congressional rep not the 45th district which Calvert will take over baring his reelection
I have learned over the years that you cover your tracks real well and fly below the radar. Your slippery Mary and you keep yourself unaccountable to your district also.

Your whats wrong with congress and it shows. Your loyalty is too yourself only.
