High Winds Expected Saturday
Gusty winds are set to hit the Coachella Valley Saturday, and are expected to bring sustained winds of 40 mph and gusts up to 65 mph.
The National Weather Service issued a wind advisory for the Palm Desert area on Saturday, with gusts up to 65 mph expected in the mid-morning and late afternoon.
Sustained winds of 40 mph are forecast in the Coachella Valley on Saturday, starting at 6 a.m. and running through 10 p.m., the NWS reported.
Some sprinkles could pop up in the eastern Coachella Valley, according to the NWS.
Blowing dust and sand could reduce visibilities to a quarter-mile on Interstate 10 and other desert roads, forecasters warned.
Drivers of high-profile vehicles were warned that driving could be difficult along Highway 247 nera Lucerne Valley, along I-10 between Banning and Palm Spings, along Highway 111, northwest of Palm Springs and on Interstate 8 between Pine Valley and the Imperial County Line.
