LQHS Back to School Night

My 13th and final Back to School night.

I know I am a part of the minority, but I love Back to School night. I have been sadly counting down the number of Back to School nights I would have left for years and the count is out.

Althought I will not be able to participate anymore, I will cherish the memories of showing my mom around school, where I hang out, introducing her to the teachers I love and occasionally proving my points about certain teachers and classes.

La Quinta High School hosted their annual Back to School night on Wednesday, Oct. 5. As always, teachers opened their classroom and welcomed parents informing them on the the courses and expectations of the class.

Some parents had their children acting as personal tour guides, escorting them around campus as other parents stared blankly at a copy of their child's schedule, not entirely sure where they should be. Senior parents now expertly navigate the campus and wonder where the time has gone while Freshmen parents are just beginning the parental high school experience.

"I love the family resemblance walking in the door," said Mrs. Bickford as I walked with my mom into English.  I'm used to these comments as I look remarkably like my mother but they never fail to make me laugh. It is just as fun every year to bring my parents to school and show them what is such a huge part of my life.

If you do not take advantage of Back to School night, I sincerely recommend taking the opportunity while you can.
