Diva Rose Kingsley Debuts Cabaret

Show at Alibi Azul in Palm Springs July 12

PALM DESERT (Calif.) –  International opera star Rose Kingsley, who has performed at the Metropolitan Opera and before three U.S. Presidents, will debut her exciting new cabaret show July 12 at the  George's Alibi Azul night club in Palm Springs.

"This marks my return to the cabaret stage, making the full circle transition from opera to Broadway." said Kingsley, with a four octave range, will perform with renowned jazz pianist Bob Corwin and bassist Danny Flahive. Corwin has performed with such musical giants as trumpeter Chet Baker and singers Peggy Lee and Anita O'Day. Flahive has performed with Buddy Greco.

Kingsley, who trained at Juilliard School of Music and American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City, will present such classic cabaret songs as "All That Jazz," “Cabaret.” "One For My Baby," "Old Black Magic," and selections from "Phantom of the Opera" at the July 12 show.

Tickets for the 7:30 p.m. show and 8:30 p.m. dinner are available online at www.alibiazul.com or by calling (760) 325-5533. Alibi Azul is located at 369 N. Palm Canyon Dr., Palm Springs.

The ever versatile performer, Kingsley has appeared in concert with an iconic A-list of entertainers including Bob Hope, Frank Sinatra, Vic Damone, Kathryn Grayson, Peter Nero, Placido Domingo and Luciano Pavoratti.

It was her professional debut at as a ballerina at the Metropolitan Opera with alongside great singers, which Kingsley's passion for opera blossomed.  After training at the Juilliard School and the American Academy, this now classically trained soprano debuted her first opera, "La Boheme" at Lincoln Center in 1971 as “Musetta”. Kingsley's talent landed her leads in operas such as "Aida," "Tosca" and "Electra."  In her signature role in "Salome,” Kingsley dances as well as sings.  Her acclaimed role earned a personal letter from the great Placido Domingo who gushed, "There are no words that can describe the power of your performance. I, for one, was left speechless."

Kingsley’s stunning performances earned her invitations from the White House resulting in memorable concerts for Presidents Gerald Ford, George Bush Sr. and Bill Clinton. Kingsley performances at Carnegie Hall and Steinway Hall in New York City complement her later command performance for HRH Prince Charles in England.

She is the co-composer of “Apollo 14, A Space Opera,” dramatizing the famous moon mission that launched astronauts Alan Shepard, a personal friend of Kingsley's, Edgar Mitchell and Stuart Roosa, which debuted at New York City Opera to rave reviews. Kingsley delivered a patriotic tribute about the Apollo 14 mission at a special event at the Palm Springs Air Museum earlier this year.

Kingsley, a full time Palm Desert resident with husband Norm, also is the founder and artistic director of the International Opera Institute in Palm Desert, where she has fostered the development and training of talented young singers who want to be in the spotlight on the major operatic stages of the world.
