The official kickoff for this annual event to raise money for American Cancer Society, was held May 7 at the Miramonte Hotel in Indian Wells in an evening of  entertainment, information and touching testimonials from a cancer survivor.

"This year's theme is Disney so we asked all our team leaders and volunteer walkers to wear their favorite Disney costume," Stanley  said.

About 50 people enjoyed performances from  Benjamin Franklin Elementary School students who sang a selection of Disney movie songs under the direction of  Sam Klein.
