Blood Drives Next Week in Palm Desert, Indio

Desert Blood Services will hold four blood drives in the Coachella Valley next week.

The blood drives are scheduled:

- Nov. 6, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the city of Palm Desert's employee
lounge, 73510 Fred Waring Drive

- Nov. 7, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.  at the Department of Public Social
Services, 44-199 Monroe St., Indio

- Nov. 8, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Fiesta Ford, 78990 Varner Road, Indio

-  Nov. 8, from 7:45 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. in Indio High School's auxiliary gym,
81750 Avenue 46

Nov. 6 donors get a "Keep Calm, Donate Blood" T-shirt; Nov. 7 donors will receive a coupon for a large, three-topping pizza at Papa John's; Fiesta Ford donors get a coupon for two free tacos at Jack in the Box; and Indio High donors will receive a $5 In-N-Out Burger gift card.

All donors receive a free cholesterol screening and physical, according to Desert Blood Services.

Healthy people at least 15 years old can give blood, but those 15 and 16 years old must provide written parental consent. Photo identification is required, and all donors should eat before arriving and be well hydrated.

Desert Blood Services provides blood products for Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs, Eisenhower Medical Center in Rancho Mirage, JFK Memorial Hospital in Indio, Hi-Desert Medical Center in Joshua Tree, Palo Verde Hospital in Blythe and Bush Naval Hospital in Twentynine Palms.
