BREAST CANCER DIARIES: Riding With Debbie

It deeply touches me how caring and compassionate Debbie is toward her Sunline passengers.

To get to doctor appointments, volunteering at the Integrated Learning Institute, and Bible studies I often use the Sundial bus for transportation. It has a lift for my power wheelchair and provides door-to-door service.

Today I was honored to have Debbie as my driver. When she dropped off and helped some ladies into the Alzheimer’s Center, she returned with a muffin for a frail elderly man seated at the front of the bus.

After he got off at a nursing home, I said to Debbie that it was nice of her to give him a muffin. Debbie told me that he was visiting his wife at the nursing home. He has no family so she is always concerned how he takes care of himself.

Debbie further explained that on her days off if she eats out, she buys an extra meal and take it to the gentleman’s house. It deeply touches me how caring and compassionate Debbie is toward her passengers.

I think today I got a bus ride from an angel!  Thank you Debbie, for your acts of kindness to your bus passenger “family.”  That is why I was honored to be a passenger on your bus today.
