UPDATED WITH PHOTO: Budweiser Clydesdales Head Through El Paseo, to Stagecoach

The world-famous horses were scheduled to head through El Paseo on their way to the Stagecoach country music festival.

A traveling team of Budweiser Clydesdales paraded down El Paseo Thursday before heading to Indio for the Stagecoach country music festival.

The world-famous horses, which stand six feet at the shoulder and weigh an average of 2,000 pounds apiece, were at the Palm Desert shopping district from 2 to 4 p.m., event spokesman Clay Seddon said.

There are six "hitches" or teams of Budweiser Clydesdales -- five of which travel around the country and one which remains at the Anheuser-Busch brewery complex in St. Louis, Mo. Eight horses are driven at one time, but there are 10 horses on each team for rotation and rest purposes.
