Coachella Valley Residents Invited to Museum's Birthday

CDMOD will have a family fundraiser and festivities that will include carnival rides, such as a Ferris wheel, bouncy house and swing chair ride.

Coachella Valley residents are invited to a birthday party: the 25th anniversary of the Children’s Discovery Museum of the Desert.

The event is set for 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 10. The museum is at 71-701 Gerald Ford Drive, in Rancho Mirage.

The celebration is a fundraiser to benefit CDMOD.

The event will include carnival rides such as a Ferris wheel, bouncy house and swing chair ride, as well as music, petting zoo, crafts activities and scavenger hunt, organizers said.

CDMOD mascot Sunny will make a special appearance to sing “Happy Birthday,” and cake will be served.

"We look forward to a great day of fun and entertainment for the entire family, all while supporting the efforts of the museum’s mission,” interim Executive Director Judi Miller was quoted in a news release.

Wristband tickets for children to enjoy all of the festivities are $15 per person. Food vendors will also be on hand.

Sponsors for the event include Contour Dermatology, CLK – Carl’s Jr., Union Bank of California, Amber & Sam Spinello, The Tappan Foundation, H.N. and Frances C. Berger Foundation, Shalhoub Management, Affiliated Construction, Scott Wilson, Richard Kite and Marc Homme.

For more information, call 760-321-0602 or stop by the Museum Gift Store to buy tickets.

You';re welcome, Renee but I don't really expect thanks for my contributions to the classroom. IRead More wasn't going to stand by and see kids not have the basic things they needed to get through the class and most teachers are of the same mind :) Sadly, school budgets have never covered all the needs in classrooms.

Dorothy you actually believe criminals can't get guns without a background check. Wow are youRead More naive. Just because YOU don't understand why some people want a particular weapon...does not mean you can impose your ownership standards on someone else. Suppose I suggest you don't need the particular car you drive or the particlar beverage you drink? I see you are opposed to hunting. How do you feel about abortion? Typical liberal double standard at play here??

Totally agree. This is just the beginning of a gun grab. All it will accomplish is furtherRead More restrictions on law abiding citizens. Chicago is a perfect example. Strictest gun control in the nation and highest gun crime and murder rate. Criminals do not comply with the law. Only legal citizens will lose their rights to own the weapon of their choice. Liberals are all about choice when it comes to killing an unborn, but when it comes to a lawful gunowner's choice it's a different story altogether.
