Tickets are on sale now for the 21st season of the Coachella Valley Symphony, according to an announcement Monday.

Here's more info from the symphony:

Following this year's theme, "Music on the Move," the area's community orchestra will be performing at three unique venues: Del Webb's Sun City Palm Desert, the Helen Galen Performing Arts Center at the new Rancho Mirage High School, and the McCallum Theatre in Palm Desert.

The Symphony kicks-off with "
A Season of Joy" on Tuesday, December 3, at 7 p.m. at Del Webb’s Sun City Palm Desert (38-180 Del Webb Blvd). This pastiche of holiday favorites includes selections from Handel's Messiah, featuring LA Opera sensation Suzanna Guzman and former New York City Opera baritone Donald Osborne. A trio of "Sleigh rides" by Mozart, Delius and Anderson will celebrate the spirit of the holidays.

On
Sunday, January 26, at 2 p.m. the Symphony will celebrate its new venue at the Helene Galen Theatre for the Performing Arts on the campus of Rancho Mirage High School (31-001 Rattler Rd.) with a concert entitled "My One and Only." This afternoon of singular works by extraordinary composers includes the overture to Fidelio, Beethoven's only opera, and Bizet's sole symphony. The concert culminates with Grieg's one and only piano concerto, played by Virginia Waring finalist and L.A. sensation, Keenan Reesor. This internationally acclaimed pianist has performed for audiences around the world and returns to the desert to share his distinctive style.

The Symphony returns to the
Helene Galen Theatre on Sunday, February 23, at 2 p.m. with "Feste Romana," a salute to Italy. Guests will be treated to Mendelssohn's Italian Symphony, Respighi's beautiful Ancient Airs and Dances, and Benjamin Britten's homage to Rossini.  Special guest and fabulous L.A. opera star, Soprano Suzanna Guzman will perform a selection of beautiful Italian arias.

On
Tuesday, April 1, at 7 p.m. at Del Webb’s Sun City Palm Desert, the Symphony presents "Oh, Those Gershwin Boys." Palm Springs' Rocky Blumhagen and Portland Oregon's Susannah Mars bring a fun, fast light-hearted revue of the Gershwin's music and stories about the boys and the songs and about George's friend, Kay Swift. This show was commissioned for the Portland Chamber Orchestra and is devised and directed by Jack Moore. The arrangements/ orchestrations are by Charlie Creasy; the latter two also from Palm Springs.

The Coachella Valley Symphony’s grand finale concert,
“The Best of the CVS” takes place Friday, May 9, at 7 p.m. at the McCallum Theatre (73-000 Fred Waring Drive, Palm Desert). Special guest and concert headliner, soprano Dr. Lisa Lindley will perform selections from both the opera and pop worlds. The evening also features Gershwin's “An American In Paris” and Aaron Copland's stirring "Lincoln Portrait" with special guest narrator, Broadway and film legend Laurence Luckinbill.
