Did You Feel It? 3.3 Magnitude Earthquake Shakes Near La Quinta

A magnitude-3.3 earthquake struck near Anza Thursday.

The quake struck at 1:41 p.m. about 16 miles southwest of La Quinta, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The exact location was: 

  • 16km (10mi) ESE of Anza, California
  • 25km (16mi) SW of La Quinta, California
  • 27km (17mi) SSW of Palm Desert, California
  • 27km (17mi) SSW of Rancho Mirage, California
  • 411km (255mi) W of Phoenix, Arizona

No damage was immediately reported.

Heard it - not much to feel. Enough to cause me to pause & wait...."Could this be the big one?"... Thankfully, no.

I felt it in Rancho Mirage. There was a much stronger one several days ago at 10 a.m. which wasn't reported on--although I might have missed it.
