Earthquakes Rattle Riverside County South of Palm Desert, Near Idyllwild

Some Riverside County residents were rattled Dec. 30 by earthquakes south of Palm Desert and southwest of Idyllwild.

Monday morning residents living on the Riverside-San Diego County line were rocked by a magnitude-3.3 temblor. The quake struck at 10:33 a.m. and was centered approximately 23 miles south of Palm Desert, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

Then at 3:44 p.m. Monday, another earthquake was reported two miles southwest of Idyllwild, which registered a magnitude-3.7, the USGS reported.

Neither quake caused any reported damage or injuries.
