The Coachella Valley’s annual 9-11 Remembrance concert has a new venue - indoors.

This year’s concert will take place at The McCallum Theatre. For the past five years the concert has been held at the Amphitheatre at Palm Desert Civic Center Park.

“Our new partnership with the McCallum Theatre highlights the concert’s value to the community and its popularity” said Mark Talboys, Executive Director of Palm Desert Sister Cities Foundation. “As recent events in Boston and elsewhere around the globe illustrate, tragedy continues to strike. The McCallum will provide appropriate, air conditioned comfort to those who come together to celebrate universal humanity through music”.

It also provides an opportunity to honor the courage of those who gave their all on that tragic day as well as the dedication of all those who have served, suffered, and sacrificed in the years since.

Presented by the Palm Desert Sister Cities Foundation, the hour long concert will feature The Desert Chorale and the Palm Springs High School Band. Pre concert music in the lobby will be provided by Heatwave, the Boys and Girls Club Jazz Band.

The concert will be one of many remembrance events occurring throughout the United States and around the world on September 11.

The concert is free but tickets are limited and available on a first come, first served basis at The McCallum Theatre Box Office which will open at 5:30 pm on the day of the event, Wednesday, September 11, 2013.  No early tickets will be released or available.

The auditorium will open at 6:30 pm and the concert will start at 7:00 pm.  Beverages available (including full bar) in the lobby from 5:30 pm until 7:00 pm.
