The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in the Inland Empire fell one-tenth of a cent today to $4.136, the fourth consecutive daily decrease.
The average price in Riverside and San Bernardino counties is 1 cent less than a week ago, but 6 cents more than one month ago and 19.7 cents higher
than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information
Prices in Palm Desert were seen near the $4.10 range on Friday morning.
The streak of decreases is the longest since a 52-day streak ended July
13. The average price fell three-tenths of a cent on Thursday, one-tenth of a
cent today on Wednesday and four-tenths of a cent on Tuesday.
"Prices throughout the region dropped very slightly during the past
week for the first time since July,'' said Jeffrey Spring of the Automobile
Club of Southern California.
"It's too soon to tell whether or not this signals the traditional fall
downturn in prices, but at least consumers can expect the same price or lower
at the pump as last week rather than an increase.''
