It's Here! Annual Golf Cart Parade to Take Over El Paseo

Golf carts line El Paseo in the annual event that's fun for participants and onlookers.

The annual Palm Desert Golf Cart Parade will be held Sunday on El Paseo.

The 48th annual parade includes decorated golf carts, floats and marching bands and is considered the largest of its kind. This year's theme is "American Pride," city spokesman David Hermann said.

Earlier this week, Palm Desert Patch caught up with Desert Arc, to see their Mayflower themed float ahead of the big day.  It's a day that staff says the clients eagerly anticipate all year long. (See photos above of their cart.)

The day started at 7:30 a.m. with the annual Palm Desert Rotary Pancake Breakfast in the Bank of America parking lot, followed by a golf cart show at 10 a.m. on El Paseo. The parade starts at 1 p.m.

"The Palm Desert Golf Cart Parade is a popular favorite that attracts people from across the desert and around the world," Hermann said.

Free seating will be available along the parade route. "Main Street Seats" include concierge service with lunch for $25 per seat. A VIP box costs $250. For people 65 and over, free reserved seating with parking at The Gardens on El Paseo between San Pablo Avenue and Larkspur Lane, and free boxed lunches will be available.

Be sure to check back with Patch later for pictures from the event!  Also, we encourage you to add your own to the gallery above!

You';re welcome, Renee but I don't really expect thanks for my contributions to the classroom. IRead More wasn't going to stand by and see kids not have the basic things they needed to get through the class and most teachers are of the same mind :) Sadly, school budgets have never covered all the needs in classrooms.

Dorothy you actually believe criminals can't get guns without a background check. Wow are youRead More naive. Just because YOU don't understand why some people want a particular weapon...does not mean you can impose your ownership standards on someone else. Suppose I suggest you don't need the particular car you drive or the particlar beverage you drink? I see you are opposed to hunting. How do you feel about abortion? Typical liberal double standard at play here??

Totally agree. This is just the beginning of a gun grab. All it will accomplish is furtherRead More restrictions on law abiding citizens. Chicago is a perfect example. Strictest gun control in the nation and highest gun crime and murder rate. Criminals do not comply with the law. Only legal citizens will lose their rights to own the weapon of their choice. Liberals are all about choice when it comes to killing an unborn, but when it comes to a lawful gunowner's choice it's a different story altogether.
