FORUM: How Can I Teach My Child About Charity?

The earthquake and tsunami in Japan have spurred many in the United States and Riverside County to action.

The scenes of destruction from the earthquake and tsunami in Japan have been seared into our minds and hearts.

The death toll is around 18,000, making it one of the deadliest disasters in the island nation’s history.

Many Americans have been spurred to action across the country. And many locals have started stepping up. Two Palm Desert High School students plan to perform at a next month at the Marywood Palm Valley School in Rancho Mirage.

But how much is the right amount to give? How do you know if you are being scammed? Should it take a big event like the disaster in Japan for us to give?

This week’s forum is about charity. How do we teach our children to give their time, money and life to living in service to others? What is the best way to lead by example? Do you give to your church, local soup kitchen or maybe a family member in need?

Our Moms Council will be online at 1 p.m. to discuss these questions and more. Feel free to leave comments below.
