Living Desert Plans Family "Howl-O-Ween" Celebration

The local zoo expects thousands of people to come through its gates during the next few days, to enjoy their Halloween-themed exhibits and trick-or-treating.

Palm Desert residents don't have to look far for a fun Halloween themed event this weekend, as the Living Desert will be hosting a three day family friendly celebration.

The "Howl-O-Ween" event begins Friday, Oct. 25, and runs through Saturday, Oct. 28, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m.

"Cases of candy, granola bars, pre-packed apples, crackers and healthy snack options have been delivered and hundreds of man-hours have been logged to ensure the Coachella Valley’s biggest Halloween event goes off without a hitch," event organizers said in an announcement.

The theme of the weekend is the Wild West, and when Palm Desert Patch stopped by on Thursday, the old west town was being built up to become a ghost town trick-or-treating station.

It's estimated that 8,000 people will come through the zoo througout the course of the three day event, organizers told Patch.

Some of the other highlights those guests can enjoy include:

  • Kids’ jumpers and slides
  • Haunted maze
  • Rodeo-style trick roper interactive show
  • "Fright Ride" through the wilds of Africa and other places

“There will be tricks and treats around every corner and new event attractions.” said Nyla Patzner, spokesperson for The Living Desert. “Plus, parents know The Living Desert is a safe place to bring the kids for Halloween filled with candy, healthy snacks and animal encounters.”

Tickets cost:

  • Non-member Adult: $10.00
  • Members, Children, Military(with ID): $8:00

You';re welcome, Renee but I don't really expect thanks for my contributions to the classroom. IRead More wasn't going to stand by and see kids not have the basic things they needed to get through the class and most teachers are of the same mind :) Sadly, school budgets have never covered all the needs in classrooms.

Dorothy you actually believe criminals can't get guns without a background check. Wow are youRead More naive. Just because YOU don't understand why some people want a particular weapon...does not mean you can impose your ownership standards on someone else. Suppose I suggest you don't need the particular car you drive or the particlar beverage you drink? I see you are opposed to hunting. How do you feel about abortion? Typical liberal double standard at play here??

Totally agree. This is just the beginning of a gun grab. All it will accomplish is furtherRead More restrictions on law abiding citizens. Chicago is a perfect example. Strictest gun control in the nation and highest gun crime and murder rate. Criminals do not comply with the law. Only legal citizens will lose their rights to own the weapon of their choice. Liberals are all about choice when it comes to killing an unborn, but when it comes to a lawful gunowner's choice it's a different story altogether.
