Major Delays At Cook and Hovley This Week

Traffic snarls expected as work continues on multi-million dollar intersection improvements.

Work has begun on the second phase of drainage and improvements at the intersection of Cook Street and Hovley Lane East.  The heavily travelled intersection should be reopened sometime on Friday, according to Palm Desert city spokesman David Hermann.

Hovley will only be open to residents getting to and from their homes. While right turns will be allowed, left turns from Cook will be restricted.
Through traffic on both streets will be allowed.

Hermann says the $2.5 million project will be completed in February.

Drivers travelling north or southbound may want to take Portola Avenue, while east and westbound traffic is best served by Country Club Drive and Fred Waring Drive.
