Marine Corps Air and Ground Units Schedule Live-Fire Exercises at 29 Palms

Marine Corps air and ground units are scheduled to fire high-explosive munitions at the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center outside Twentynine Palms during combined arms live-fire exercises beginning Wednesday through Dec.16.

"Depending on atmospheric conditions, the sound of the explosions may be amplified," Marine Corps officials said in a statement Tuesday Dec. 3.

"In an effort to improve our understanding of how our training affects the community, we have created a sound reporting system," Marine Corps officials said. "The information gathered from these reports will enable us to monitor what sounds are being heard, where they are being heard, and the community's level of annoyance, if any."

The USMC sound reporting site is http://www.29palms.usmc.mil/sound/sound.asp.
