A La Quinta man is dead after crashing his Toyota pick-up into a Palm Desert house. It was the second of two incidents he was involved in this morning, less than 1/4 mile apart.

According to reports, the driver may have suffered a major heart attack after crashing into the home near Tennessee Avenue and Kentucky Avenue at about 6:20 a.m.

The man, only identified as a 62-year old from La Quinta, later died at a local hospital.

Palm Desert Police Sgt. Dave Adams says the driver first struck a 51-year-old woman who was jogging on California Drive. She was later treated at a local hospital for non-life threatening injures.

"After striking the jogger, the pickup veered off of the roadway and caused damage to some landscaping to a private residence, before driving off, continuing eastbound on California Drive." Adams said.  "The driver continued toward Tennessee Avenue and Kentucky Avenue, where he veered off of the roadway, struck a parked vehicle and collided into a home."

According to Riverside County sheriff's spokesman Angel Ramos, A witness assisted the driver in getting out of the vehicle.  "A short time later, the (man) went into full arrest and the witness began CPR,'' Ramos said. "(Firefighters) transported the male to (Rancho Mirage's Eisenhower Medical Center), where he was pronounced deceased a short time later.''

The investigation into today's crash is ongoing.
