A 66-year-old Palm Desert man is now the driver of a brand new car after winning the grand prize in a statewide contest.
“This is by far the coolest prize I’ve ever won,” said Christopher Thomas, who recently won a California contest hosted by Mercury Insurance.
The company handed over a three-year lease on a 2013 Hyundai Veloster, which retails for about $20,000.
“The Veloster is a beautiful car and I’m very thankful Mercury drew my name. Now, it’s time for a road trip,” Thomas said.
Mercury’s three-month promotion allowed California residents 18 years and older to complete an online auto insurance quote at mercuryinsurance.com and automatically be entered to win the car, according to organizers.
