Palm Desert Yoga Studio Donating Thanksgiving Proceeds to Charity

A local yoga studio says they will donate 100% of the proceeds they make at a class on Thanksgiving Day to Safehouse of the Desert.

A Palm Desert yoga studio is trying to give back to the community this holiday season, and has offered to donate proceeds from a Thanksgiving Day class to a local charity.

Kay Walker-Spillman of Go With The Flow Yoga says she'll be donating 100% of the proceeds from her studio's 7:30 a.m. Thanksgiving yoga class to Safehouse of the Desert-- a valley group who works with youth in crisis.

“All of us who have been blessed with abundance in life have an obligation to share our gifts with those in need,” Walker-Spillman said. “We want to make our clients aware of the wonderful work this organization does, and perhaps they will be spurred to get involved on a more personal level.”

Operation SafeHouse works with youth and parents to address challenging issues in their lives.  The Coachella Valley location in Thousand Palms is a 16,000 square foot, 24-hour emergency shelter providing a total of 20 beds for children between the ages of 12 and 18.

“I can think of no better way to use yoga than to help the youth of our community who feel abandoned and abused,” said instructor Heather Morgan. “At this time of year we are so focused on family and festivities, but we should spend a few moments thinking about those less fortunate, and offer up an act of kindness. I am honored to support the amazing work that SafeHouse of the Desert is doing on a daily basis. You just never know how far your compassion will travel.”

Go with the Flow Yoga is located at 72-205 Painters Path in Palm Desert, near Fred Waring and Highway 111.  For more information, call 760-862-9889, or visit  www.gowiththeflowyoga.com.

You';re welcome, Renee but I don't really expect thanks for my contributions to the classroom. IRead More wasn't going to stand by and see kids not have the basic things they needed to get through the class and most teachers are of the same mind :) Sadly, school budgets have never covered all the needs in classrooms.

Dorothy you actually believe criminals can't get guns without a background check. Wow are youRead More naive. Just because YOU don't understand why some people want a particular weapon...does not mean you can impose your ownership standards on someone else. Suppose I suggest you don't need the particular car you drive or the particlar beverage you drink? I see you are opposed to hunting. How do you feel about abortion? Typical liberal double standard at play here??

Totally agree. This is just the beginning of a gun grab. All it will accomplish is furtherRead More restrictions on law abiding citizens. Chicago is a perfect example. Strictest gun control in the nation and highest gun crime and murder rate. Criminals do not comply with the law. Only legal citizens will lose their rights to own the weapon of their choice. Liberals are all about choice when it comes to killing an unborn, but when it comes to a lawful gunowner's choice it's a different story altogether.
