AOL....need to get priorites in their right order.
The best hike in the valley at the top of your local news is far less news worthy than the passing of Richard Milanovich the Cahuilla tribal leader who is now in about the fifth position. Somebody at AOL is not paying attention!!!

Yes, you did leave one off, one of my favorites. Eisenhower Loop starts at the Living Desert, scrambles up the mountains along the Palm Desert/Indian Wells border, then back down along the edge of the valley, till you're back at the Living Desert where you can have some coffee and look through the awesome pictures you just took. This hike is challenging at some points, but totally doable. It affords some of the best views of the entire valley (yes, even better than the Bump & Grind). This is amust on a fav's list for Palm Desert hikes.

No disrespect to Mr. Milanovich, buy why? He built casinos, made a lot (a whole lot) of money, and didn't pay taxes. Condolences to his family, but more newsworthy than the best hikes in Palm Desert? Not sure about that . . .

And The Carl Lykken Trail. It can take you from south Palm Springs and eventually to the Tram. That's called Cactus to Ckouds and is an 6- 8 hour 8k climb in elevation.

How did you miss the Art Smith Trail? It's the best Palm Desert hike by far with the Schey Trail being second.

Hal, the list is not meant to be complete. It will be updated as nominations roll in.
Jessica E. Davis March 12, 2012 at 01:45 pm
Thanks for the participation, but only Palm Desert trails can be nominated.

I was a teacher for 30 years. There was not ONEschool year when I didn't personally pay for schoolRead More supplies for my students ($500-$1,500 a yr)

@B.K.-- Thank you for your help with the community :) I have a great respect for all teachers!

You';re welcome, Renee but I don't really expect thanks for my contributions to the classroom. IRead More wasn't going to stand by and see kids not have the basic things they needed to get through the class and most teachers are of the same mind :) Sadly, school budgets have never covered all the needs in classrooms.
