Scholarships Available for Swim Lessons, Open Swim Passes

Applications for the scholarships will be available from April 1 through May 30.

The following was submitted for publication by the Desert Recreation District:

For the seventh consecutive year, residents in the Coachella Valley can enjoy the benefits of swim lessons or open swim passes at no charge, thanks to a $55,000 grant that Desert Recreation District is slated to receive from Kaiser Permanente.  Scholarships for swim lessons, open swim passes and Jr. Lifeguard Programs will be awarded to local residents as part of Kaiser Permanente’s Healthy Eating Active Living (HEAL) program.  With a mission to support active healthy lifestyles through aquatic recreation, Desert Recreation District’s pools in Indio, Coachella and Mecca offer East Valley residents ideal settings this summer.

Through the program, residents can apply for free swim passes, free swim lessons or a Jr. Lifeguard scholarship. Applications for scholarships are being taken April 1st through May 30th. Open swim passes and swim lesson confirmations will be distributed at the Operation Splash kick-off on June 14, 2014 at Pawley Pool in Indio.
