UPDATED: Portola to Be Partially Closed for Signal Repair Work

The lane closures will mean that motorists on southbound Portola will be unable to turn left on El Paseo during the work.

** The time for the following traffic alert has been updated after it was rescheduled by the city**

From the City of Palm Desert:

The lane closures scheduled for southbound Portola Avenue at El Paseo on Friday, February 28, have been rescheduled to Wednesday, March 5, due to forecasted rain. The southbound left turn lane from Portola Avenue onto El Paseo and the number one (through) lane will be closed to allow workers to repair a broken signal detector loop at the intersection.

The lane closures will mean that motorists on southbound Portola will be unable to turn left on El Paseo during the work. The curb adjacent lane on southbound Portola at El Paseo will be the only open lane and will function as both a through lane and right turn lane during construction.

The lane closures are dependent on the weather. If rain prevents the asphalt plant from operating, the work will be rescheduled and a new traffic alert issued in advance of construction.
