Will Palm Desert Jazercise Instructor Pull Out Win in Local Charity Competition?

The Palm Desert jazzercise instructor is dancing for charity in this year's "Dancing with Our Stars" competition.

The following was submitted by Patti Werry for publication:

Palm Desert Jazzercise Instructor Patti Werry is trading in her aerobic shoes for ballroom heels to support CASA – Court Appointed Special Advocates – as a celebrity dancer in Dancing with Our Stars on Feb. 10 at Agua Caliente Casino in Rancho Mirage.

Werry has been teaching Jazzercise for 23 years, and as she approaches her 50th birthday in March she decided to check something off her bucket list. The choice was easy when friends who work for CASA asked her if she would dance for the non-profit agency that trains volunteers to serve as advocates for foster children in the court system.

“CASA is my sorority’s philanthropy, so I have known about it for many years. I am thrilled to be able to support our local chapter,” says Werry. More than 3,600 foster children reside in Riverside County, and 160 are on a waiting list for a CASA volunteer. CASA receives no state or federal funding and relies entirely on fundraising and grants to provide its services.

The winner of Dancing with Our Stars is based on votes, which are $20 each and are a donation to the dancer’s charity.

Tickets to the event are $90 and include dinner, dancing and a vote.

To purchase tickets or vote for Werry and her celebrity partner, Isa Lapaj, visit www.casariversidecounty.org or mail your check to CASA for Riverside County, P.O. Box 3008, Indio, CA 92202-3008. Please indicate DWOS on your check.  For more information, call 760-218-1687 or www.dancingwithourstars.net.

You';re welcome, Renee but I don't really expect thanks for my contributions to the classroom. IRead More wasn't going to stand by and see kids not have the basic things they needed to get through the class and most teachers are of the same mind :) Sadly, school budgets have never covered all the needs in classrooms.

Dorothy you actually believe criminals can't get guns without a background check. Wow are youRead More naive. Just because YOU don't understand why some people want a particular weapon...does not mean you can impose your ownership standards on someone else. Suppose I suggest you don't need the particular car you drive or the particlar beverage you drink? I see you are opposed to hunting. How do you feel about abortion? Typical liberal double standard at play here??

Totally agree. This is just the beginning of a gun grab. All it will accomplish is furtherRead More restrictions on law abiding citizens. Chicago is a perfect example. Strictest gun control in the nation and highest gun crime and murder rate. Criminals do not comply with the law. Only legal citizens will lose their rights to own the weapon of their choice. Liberals are all about choice when it comes to killing an unborn, but when it comes to a lawful gunowner's choice it's a different story altogether.
