Wind Advisory for Coachella Valley and Palm Desert

High winds expected to sweep through the valley Friday afternoon and night.

The National Weather Service has posted a wind advisory from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Stronger than normal winds are expected from the Banning Pass eastward through the valley, with gusts of up to 60 miles per hour possible.

West winds of 25 to 35 miles per hour are expected beginning in the early afternoon, and increasing until about 8:00 p.m.  The strongest winds are expected between 5:00 and 8:00 p.m.

Winds will begin to decrease around 10:00 tonight.

Drivers on interstate 10 should take extra care due to blowing sand.  High profile vehicles may have extra difficulty.
