Author's Journey Comes Full Circle

Local author and filmmaker, LD Thompson, has published a tome on the language of the soul.

For former Palm Desert resident, LD Thompson, the invitation to speak at the Indio Rotary Club was a welcome sign that he had ‘come home.’

In 2006, Thompson had moved to the Northwest to finish his first book, "THE MESSAGE: A Guide to Being Human," which was published in April of this year.

After it published he realized that he was longing to return to the desert.

"The quality of the light and the clarity of the air here feeds my creative process," he said. "Though the northwest is beautiful, it's more inward and reflective, which served the gestation of the book."

"THE MESSAGE: A Guide to Being Human" is described by the publisher, Divine Arts Media, as an "instant spiritual classic." The fundamental premise is this: Each human being has a soul which acts as an on-board navigation device with a specific goal to fulfill a certain curriculum.

Thompson opened his presentation at the Indio Rotary Club with a quote from the book, “You have never made a mistake in your life. Not one.”

You could see that this provocative statement was easy for some to grasp and challenging for others.

"Those events that sometimes seem to be the result of bad decisions are not mistakes, but rather challenges placed in your path by your eternal, intelligent soul to move you along in the curriculum that you have set for yourself," he said.

The fundamental message of the book is that your life has been designed by your soul. The more you listen to your soul and act upon its values and urgings, the more graceful and joyous your life becomes.

In addition to being an author, LD is a filmmaker whose production company, Trick Dog Films, he co-founded when he was living in Palm Desert.

At that time, he traveled to Afghanistan, Jordan, Syria and Turkey working on a documentary on Islam.

More recently he produced an award-winning documentary film on marriage equality, ‘For My Wife…’, which was featured in the Palm Springs International Film Festival and in festivals around the world.

Now living in Palm Springs, Thompson travels for speaking engagements and book signings while working on his next book.

"THE MESSAGE: A Guide to Being Human" can be found at Barnes & Noble, Borders, and at Just Fabulous in Palm Springs, as well as various online retailers.
