British Artist To Unveil New Glass Line

UK's foremost glass master to debut Thai-inspired line at reception Feb. 19.

World renowned glass artist Amanda Brisbane will visit in Palm Desert on this weekend to debut a line of Thai-inpired glass pieces from her 2011 collection.

The artist, who studied in the United States, has mastered the art of sand casting over the last decade. Her pieces are intricate, delicate and vivdly colorful, and have been shown all over the world in places like The Address in Dubai and Neiman Marcus. For the contemporary luxury hotel, she erected a 30-foot abstract installation reminiscent of colorful leaves.

Of her work, she says, "I love the textural finishes that the process generates - the subtle interplay between the fire-polished smoothness of the inner surface and the contrasting, coarser texture of the cast underbelly."

Brisbane's U.S.  representative Michael Ruvo says, "Amanda's work has a masterful fluency that depends entirely on the casting being completed in a single stage. As the molten glass begins to solidify, she intervenes, liberating the glass from its mold, manipulating it with her hands, coaxing new shapes to materialize."

Currently Brisbane is on the road with the Oprah + Gail Road Show and will land in the desert towards the end of this week.
