Celebrate "Art Under the Umbrellas" This Weekend

Organizers hope you'll stop by and purchase local handcrafted art for holiday gifts.

The following was submitted for publication by The La Quinta Arts Foundation:

Ready or not, here it comes. The Holidays. The wonderful, confusing, dreaded Holidays. You can’t escape it, so why not make the best of it by treating yourself to a fun, relaxing day while scratching off your shopping gift list.

Come on over to Art Under the Umbrellas at Old Town La Quinta on Saturday, December 1st between 10 am and 4 pm. Here you’ll find truly original, unique gifts in every media and every price range from over 80 talented artisans set-up along Old Town’s charming streets and lawn.

Or how about a gift certificate from Old Town Massage, Tuscan olive oils and flavorful balsamic vinegars at Old Town Olive Oil Company, or children’s clothing and toys from Gracie’s Emporium. And check out La Quinta Arts Foundation’s new line of whimsical note cards by La Quinta Arts Festival Featured Artist Stacy Dynan for only $5 a pack – the best hostess gift ever!  It’s one stop shopping — plus no waiting in line. You’ll be home wrapping presents by the fire in no time.

Live entertainment by the Steve Madaio & Friends will energize your shopping excursion as you explore the artist booths and Old Town’s boutiques and shops adorned in classic holiday style.

Then take a lunch or dinner break at The Grill on Main, Hogs Breath La Quinta, Stuft Pizza Bar & Grill, Solano’s Bistro, or The Wine Bar at Old Town, where you can take home a bottle or two of holiday spirit to ring in the New Year.

Art Under the Umbrellas is presented by La Quinta Arts Foundation, now in its 31st season in service to its non-profit mission of “Promoting and Cultivating the Arts” through which over $1 million has been awarded in visual arts college scholarships.

Old Town La Quinta is located in the Village of La Quinta. Take Washington Street south. Go west on Calle Tampico for two blocks. Old Town La Quinta will be on the left-hand side. Admission and parking is free. For more information, visit www.LQAF.com or call 760-564-1244.

Just a short thought to get the word out quickly about anything in your neighborhood.

You';re welcome, Renee but I don't really expect thanks for my contributions to the classroom. IRead More wasn't going to stand by and see kids not have the basic things they needed to get through the class and most teachers are of the same mind :) Sadly, school budgets have never covered all the needs in classrooms.

Dorothy you actually believe criminals can't get guns without a background check. Wow are youRead More naive. Just because YOU don't understand why some people want a particular weapon...does not mean you can impose your ownership standards on someone else. Suppose I suggest you don't need the particular car you drive or the particlar beverage you drink? I see you are opposed to hunting. How do you feel about abortion? Typical liberal double standard at play here??

Totally agree. This is just the beginning of a gun grab. All it will accomplish is furtherRead More restrictions on law abiding citizens. Chicago is a perfect example. Strictest gun control in the nation and highest gun crime and murder rate. Criminals do not comply with the law. Only legal citizens will lose their rights to own the weapon of their choice. Liberals are all about choice when it comes to killing an unborn, but when it comes to a lawful gunowner's choice it's a different story altogether.
