The holiday season is upon us, and here's a local event you can look forward to.

The following was submitted for publication by CSUSB Palm Desert:

The sounds of the holiday season come alive with “Christmas at the Pops!” on Sunday, Dec. 2, at the Indian Wells Theater at Cal State San Bernardino’s Palm Desert Campus.

The concert, which begins at 2 p.m., will feature Kirsten and Stan Chandler singing favorite holiday hits, including “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas," “White Christmas” and “O Holy Night.”

Kirsten Chandler originated the role of Cindy Lou in the musical hit “The Marvelous Wonderettes” and re-created the role of Magenta in the award-winning revival of “The Rocky Horror Show.” When not performing on stage, Kirsten provides the singing voice of Pocahontas for Disney’s radio, television and special events, and can be heard as Princess Daria in the animated feature “Princess and the Pea.”

Stan Chandler is perhaps best known for creating the role of Jinx in the Off-Broadway hit “Forever Plaid” and can be heard on the original cast album. He has gone on to direct the show for many regional theatres across the country, and starred in the recently-released movie version, due out this year on DVD. He also has reprised his role as Jinx in the popular holiday offering “Plaid Tidings.”
