COD Students To Showcase Art Tonight

Get crafty while viewing local college art scholarship winner's work.

Right now at theat , the annual student scholarship exhibition is taking place showcasing the works of this year's Dumont Scholarship winners and an assortment of 3D art.

Tonight from 5 -7 p.m. there will be a special free public opening to debut these diverse works to the community. This is a great way to see the fruits of our local college artists.

Special guest Sarah Scheideman, founder of the local blog the Coachella Valley Art Scene, will attend with a DIY crafting table for guests. She recently spent her second year at Coachella Music Fest offering arts and crafts to attendees in the campgrounds and tonight will be offering her hip, contemporary projects to all who attend the show.

She will be accompanied by fabulous DJ Alf Alpha.

In addition to work by COD students, the center is also showing pieces sponsored by the Palm Springs Unified School District’s “Art as Alternative” Program featuring the work by alternative education students attending Ramon Alternative Center, Desert Hot Springs Alternative Center, and Mount San Jacinto Continuation High School, that will be in the Alumni Association Gallery.

All of the artworks will be for sale so this evening is a great way to support our student artists while acquiring affordable art. You never know which student might hit it big in the art world someday!
