Desert Lexus Jazz presented by the City of Indian Wells, a premier concert event in the Coachella Valley for the past 15 years, will be held at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden on Saturday, May 3, and will feature several of the most exciting performers in contemporary jazz, including acclaimed saxophonists Dave Koz, Mindi Abair, Gerald Albright, Richard Elliot, and Euge Groove.

Koz, Abair, Albright and Elliot hit the road together last summer in support of their CD, “Dave Koz and Friends Summer Horns.” The foursome just received a Grammy nomination for Best Pop Instrumental Album and will be touring North America together again this summer.  Also performing at the event will be the powerful R&B contemporary jazz favorite Groove, who will be accompanied by special guest and American Idol sensation Elliott Yamin.

“This was our chance to honor the great horn sections of the 1960’s & ‘70’s with a big tip of our hat and ‘thank you’ to those who were responsible for it,”  Koz said referring to the “Summer Horns” album. “I hope people feel the reverence that we all have for this music and the great bands that made it.”

The event will start at 5:00 p.m. and take place under the Indian Wells Tennis Garden’s new 19,000 square foot shade structure, which will offer seating for 2,000 patrons. In addition to music, the evening will also feature an assortment of food, wine and art. Reserved and VIP seating will be available.

“I am thrilled to be partnering with the Indian Wells Tennis Garden, and believe their site expansion and marvelous venue will lend itself perfectly for an incredible evening of contemporary jazz music,” said Jim “Fitz” Fitzgerald, founder of Wendy Jayne Productions, Inc., and Program Director at KJJZ Radio. “Desert Lexus Jazz has had strong support over the years, and we are excited to keep growing this event in 2014 and the years to come.”

In addition, participating sponsors include, Desert Arc, Avis Lending, CBS/KPSP TV 2, 102.3 KJJZ Radio, and The Gardens on El Paseo.
