UltraStar Cinemas, Southern California’s largest privately owned theater group and the new operator of the Mary Pickford Stadium 14 and Desert IMAX, today announced new family programs that enable parents to comfortably bring their infant to the movies. Beginning in January 2012 at the UltraStar Mary Pickford Cinemas, Parent Movie Morning and Baby’s Night Out will provide parents with a baby-friendly setting where they can enjoy the latest Hollywood blockbusters with amenities such as stroller parking, in-auditorium changing facilities, brighter lighting and reduced volume. Featured movies will be recently released titles that are for adult audiences, not children’s or animated films.
“UltraStar successfully introduced Parent Movie Morning eight years ago at other locations, and we are pleased to expand it, and the nighttime version, Baby’s Night Out, to the UltraStar Mary Pickford Cinemas,” said Julie Bravo, vice president of advertising and marketing, UltraStar Cinemas. “The Desert Cities are very family-oriented, so we want to offer plenty of entertainment options. Many parents worry about bringing their babies to the movies and disrupting other guests, so they end up missing out on all the films they want to see. Parent Movie Morning and Baby’s Night Out were created to provide a stress-free, comfortable movie going experience where crying, feeding and diaper changing are expected and welcomed. They also offer a great opportunity for new moms and dads to meet other new parents.”
The new programs complement UltraStar’s existing Kidtoon Films, which offer G-rated, animated entertainment every Saturday and Sunday at 10:30 a.m. In January, UltraStar will offer a Kidtoons double feature of Dino Dan and Mighty Machines: Ride the Mountain Rails! Based on the popular Nick Jr. television series, Dino Dan follows the adventures of paleontologist-in-training Dan Henderson as he imagines dinosaurs into the real world! Dan uses the scientific method to gather clues and solve everyday mysteries. In Mighty Machines: Ride the Mountain Rails, Work Trail is busy keeping the tracks in good shape. It takes the power of three engines to get up the sharp inclines and over the pass. These machines are a special hardy breed, made for the mountain rails.
Parent Movie Morning will be held every Wednesday at 10 a.m. beginning January 4. Baby’s Night Out will be held the second Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. beginning January 12. Admission is $5.25 for adults, and children under 4 are free.
UltraStar’s Mary Pickford Cinemas is centrally located off Highway 111 at 36850 Pickfair St. in Cathedral City. Ample parking is available in the nearby parking structure. For tickets and information, please visit www.ultrastarmovies.com.
