South Pacific at the McCallum Theatre

Richard Rodgers & Oscar Hammerstein’s Pulitzer Prize-winning musical South Pacific, will make its Palm Desert debut at from January 27-29.

This production of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s South Pacific is based on the 2008 Tony Award® winning Lincoln Center Theater production, directed by Bartlett Sher, according to the theater's spokeswoman, Cate Ervin.

The musical -- set on a tropical island during World War II -- tells the story of two couples and how their happiness is threatened by the realities of war and their own prejudices.

The score’s songs include “I’m Gonna Wash That Man Right Outa My Hair,” “Younger Than Springtime” and “A Wonderful Guy.”

The performances are set for Friday, Jan. 27, at 8 p.m.; Saturday, Jan. 28, at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.; and Sunday, Jan. 29, at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
