Two Old Black Guys Just Sitting Around Talking

The West Coast premiere of “Two Old Black Guys Just Sitting Around Talking” will take place at the Indian Wells Theater at the Cal State San Bernardino Palm Desert Campus on Friday, Feb. 17.

The funny and poignant story of rivalry, friendship and the journey of life revolves around two longtime acquaintances, Abe and Henry, who, despite the fact that they can’t stand each other, find themselves often sharing the same bench at the neighborhood park. Bitter rivals who once jostled for the love of the same woman, Abe and Henry are slowly coming to the conclusion that their long lives are more intertwined than either had ever imagined.

The play opened to rave reviews at The Penumbra Theatre in St. Paul, Minn., in 2010. It was also performed at the 2011 National Black Theatre Festival in Winston-Salem, N.C.

“I would highly recommend this play for all men and women – young and old – to obtain a birds-eye glimpse into the future of the aging process and how our past will ultimately shape our future,” said Jay Whipple from Trend Magazine.

Tim Gihring from Minnesota Monthly said, “For all its horsing around, the play eloquently describes aging and the human condition, the frightening yet marvelous reality that we're unlikely to get life before it gets us in the end.”
