A reception for artist and former Palm Desert Public Arts Manager Richard Twedt's "Photons to Illuminate a Gloomy World" exhibit was held Wednesday night at the College of the Desert's Marks Arts Center.

The show features "recent work that explores the dazzling beauty of light, both reflected and refracted," according to the college's website. It includes paintings as well as mixed-media pieces.

Wednesday's reception included catered food and music from the College of the Desert's Faculty Jazz Trio.

The exhibit opened Monday and runs through December 6. The Marks Art Center is open from noon to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday, or by appointment. The exhibited works can be purchased directly from the artist. For more information, call 760-776-7278.
