Bring Your Own Camera To Fashion Week

Be a part of a professional photo shoot and grab some shots for your own portfolio at a Fashion Week party.

Budding photographers will get a chance to build up their portfolio shots at a special Bring Your Own Camera party on Saturday, March 26 at Melissa Morgan Fine Art on El Paseo for Fashion Week.

The party will feature all the makings of a real photo shoot in the gallery’s courtyard complete with art, a stage with professional lighting courtesy of sponsor Taylor Sherrill Photography and live models. There will also be a photo booth on site and a costume table if anyone wants to jump in and take pictures with friends.

The event will run from 2-5 p.m. and is being hosted by the gallery and the Photography Collection Council of the Palm Springs Art Museum. It costs $25 to attend but that price is a steal compared to the real money one would spend hiring all of the same posers and props on their own.

Noted Hollywood photographer and Rancho Mirage resident Michael Childers will be at the party as well. Childers, known for being a founding photographer at Interview Magazine who has shot many celebrities, will be on hand to offer tips or answer questions.

Childers, who also sits on the Photography Collection Council board, describes the event as “a great opportunity for photographers to practice their craft, take some great portfolio pictures without the normal expenses of renting studios, models and equipment and a fun way to get together with those of like interest in a beautiful gallery setting.”

According to MMFA director Alexander Longmuir, artist Ben Cope will also be in attendance because his exhibition opens that same night after the party.
