Free Concert in Old Town La Quinta to Aid Victims of Domestic Violence

Attendees donating $10 or more will receive $10 vouchers redeemable that night at a variety of Old Town restaurants.

The lawn at Old Town La Quinta will be the place to be late Saturday afternoon for a free concert benefiting the Palm Desert-based charity Shelter from the Storm.

The organization provides “comprehensive services to victims of domestic violence – professionally, ethically, and compassionately,” according to its website.

The Desert All-Stars – who will be covering hits from Santana and playing other popular favorites – will headline the concert, which is scheduled to run from 5 to 7 p.m.

For Shelter from the Storm executive director Lynn Moriarty, support for these types of events is critical to her organization’s ability to meet the needs of the victims of domestic violence in these challenging economic times.

“We increasingly rely upon our own community to keep our programs alive,” she said, “and we’re very grateful to the folks at Old Town La Quinta for their support our lifesaving work.”

Although admission to the event is free, Moriarty said she hoped attendees would contribute to her group’s efforts – and help themselves to a great deal after the show.

Citing the efforts of Old Town La Quinta leasing and property manager Leslie Locken, she pointed out that everyone who donates $10 or more to Shelter from the Storm at the concert will receive a $10 restaurant voucher redeemable that night on orders of $20 or more at the following Old Town restaurants: The Grill on Main, Hog's Breath Inn or Stuft Pizza Bar & Grill.

“It’s a great deal for a great cause,” she said. “We encourage everyone to join us at Old Town La Quinta on Saturday for a wonderful evening concert.”
