Producer-director Robert Kline tonight will host a screening of clips from movies up for Oscars.
Kline, a former senior vice president at 20th Century Fox, will host "Night at the Oscars" at 7 p.m. at the Rancho Mirage Public Library, 71-100 Highway 111. Black-tie apparel for the free event is optional, library spokeswoman Susan Cook said.
In addition to showing film clips, Kline will share Oscar history and answer questions. He teaches a class on the history of the Oscars at the UC Riverside Extension and is a lecturer at USC.
Kline produced Oliver Stone's 1993 film "Heaven and Earth" and is producing and directing "JFK Remembered: 50 Years Later," set for release in November.
Seating for tonight's event is first come, first served. For information, call the library at (760) 341-7323.
The Oscars will be presented at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood on Sunday.
