KC and the Sunshine Band to Get Star in Palm Springs

The band will be given the Palm Springs Walk of Stars' 357th star the afternoon of July 6

KC and the Sunshine Band will receive a star on the Palm Springs Walk of Stars next month, it was announced Friday.

The band will be given the walk's 357th star the afternoon of July 6. The group is performing that night at Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio. The ceremony will begin at 3 that afternoon at 144 S. Palm Canyon Drive.

The group founded in 1973 in Miami by Harry Wayne Casey, or "KC," scored No.1 hits with "Get Down Tonight," "That's The Way (I Like It)," "Boogie Shoes" and "Rock Your Baby."

The band was the first to have four No. 1 pop singles in one 12-month period since the Beatles in 1964, according to its website.

KC and the Sunshine band has sold more than 100 million records, won three Grammy Awards and had its music featured in more than 200 movie soundtracks, video games, sporting events and television shows.
