King of Pop Lives On In Palm Desert

Desert Symphony to pay homage to Michael Jackson.

Almost two years after the King of Pop’s death, the world is still affected by musical legacy.

His mass appeal, even across multi-generational lines, will be evidenced March 16 during a special concert by the Desert Symphony at the . Classics like “Beat It” or “Don’t Stop Till You Get Enough” will be brought to life by horns and strings. It will be a great event for the whole family and all ages to enjoy.

"So many of the musicians grew up with this music much like we did," says Brent Havens, who created the concept and will guest-conduct the ensemble.  "The wonderful aspect of performing with an orchestra is that you have an entire palette of sounds to call upon giving the music richness, a whole new energy and a different sense of color while preserving the wonderful music that he originally produced."

Singer James Delisco will join the symphony for the one-night homage to Jackson’s music, supported by a full rock band and back-up singers.

In addition, the symphony will also include certain selections from the play Hair, a Beatles retrospective and Motown as part of this special contemporary evening.
