Museum Program Plans 'Winter Wonderland' Activities for Area Youth

Children's Discovery Museum of the Desert is planning a series of winter-themed activities for parents and toddlers.

A Rancho Mirage museum will host a series of art activities for children this month, and is encouraging parents to help "bring out the holiday glee" through the arts.

The Children’s Discovery Museum of the Desert in Rancho Mirage is hosting a "Winter Wonderland" themed program, as a part of their ongoing "Creative Arts for Tots."

The "Tots" program, for parents and toddlers ages 2 through 5, is held every Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m., according to museum spokeswoman Cynthia Figueroa.

The next session in the series begins Nov. 21, and runs through Dec. 12.

"'Winter Wonderland' is sure to bring out the holiday glee in everyone as children create turkey hats and finger puppets, make their very own holiday necklaces and ornaments, and decorate glittery snowballs, holiday wreaths, Christmas stockings, and much more," Figueroa said.  "This is a fun and messy time so please dress to get MESSY!"

The program is aimed at encouraging parents to have fun with their children and help spark their young imaginations-- all while getting into the fun messes art can create.

Pre-Registration for the program is preferred and sign-ups are being taken now. The cost for a one four-week session is $30.00 for CDMOD Members and $45 for nonmembers. For those interested in single class drop-in, the cost is $10 for members and $15 for nonmembers.

For more information about this program please call Suzanna Alberto, Early Childhood Programs Coordinator: 760-321-0602, ext.119, email:salberto@cdmod.org

You';re welcome, Renee but I don't really expect thanks for my contributions to the classroom. IRead More wasn't going to stand by and see kids not have the basic things they needed to get through the class and most teachers are of the same mind :) Sadly, school budgets have never covered all the needs in classrooms.

Dorothy you actually believe criminals can't get guns without a background check. Wow are youRead More naive. Just because YOU don't understand why some people want a particular weapon...does not mean you can impose your ownership standards on someone else. Suppose I suggest you don't need the particular car you drive or the particlar beverage you drink? I see you are opposed to hunting. How do you feel about abortion? Typical liberal double standard at play here??

Totally agree. This is just the beginning of a gun grab. All it will accomplish is furtherRead More restrictions on law abiding citizens. Chicago is a perfect example. Strictest gun control in the nation and highest gun crime and murder rate. Criminals do not comply with the law. Only legal citizens will lose their rights to own the weapon of their choice. Liberals are all about choice when it comes to killing an unborn, but when it comes to a lawful gunowner's choice it's a different story altogether.
