Art Museum To Open Next Month In Palm Desert

The Palm Springs Art Museum's satellite location in Palm Desert will open to the public in March.

Despite hopes that it could open in February, the museum, also known as The Galen, will celebrate its grand opening on March 15.

The museum is inviting the public to an open house called "Meet Your Museum Day" on March 31.

The Galen, which will be located at the former Palm Desert Visitor Center building on Highway 111 and El Paseo, will include 8,500 square feet of interior space and over five acres set aside for a sculpture garden.

The Palm Desert museum is named after patron Helene Galen for her contribution of $1 million.
