Tickets Sold Out For 'One Night Only'

Every year for the past four years, renowned Hollywood photographer Michael Childers has produced One Night Only at the McCallum Theater for Jewish Family Services of the Desert (JFS).

This year, the production that takes place on April 28th, is now sold out. Lucky ticket holders will get a chance next week to see up to 20 performers, who fly in from Los Angeles and New York, and donate their time for one night onstage in the valley’s favorite annual variety act.

“This years production is a celebration of Palm Springs legends, lyricists and performers,” Childers said.  “It'll be the first time ever on stage saluting the great talents that have lived here like Hoagy Carmichael, Lerner & Loewe, Barry Manilow, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, David Zippel, Michael Masser, Liberace, Johnny Mercer and many others. Word of mouth on the show builds every year. It' s the greatest evening of entertainment for a charity in the valley.”

When asked about this year’s highlights, Childers said: “It will be great fun working with the screen actor Bill Atherton who starred in my partner's (the late director John Schlesinger) movie Day Of The Locust. I saw him recently in David Lee's brilliant production of GiGi, in Los Angeles co-starred with the effervescent Millicent Martin, and knew I had to have him my show."

He said Stefanie Powers, a close friend, will perform as well.

All proceeds from the evening benefit Jewish Family Service of the Desert, a non-sectarian, non-profit organization that provides an array of counseling and social services to those in need regardless of age, income, ethnicity or lifestyle.
