VIDEO: Lorna Luft Pays Tribute To Her Famous Mother

No longer in the shadow of Judy Garland, singer and actress Lorna Luft has found her own light on stage and in the joys of community service.

Singer, actress and Coachella Valley resident, Lorna Luft brings her mother's songbook to life performing "Songs My Mother Taught Me" at the this Thursday, March 10 at 8 p.m.

Luft pays tribute to Judy Garland, exhibiting remarkably similar gifts in range and song styling. This will be an encore performance of the program, which Ms. Luft presented last year at the McCallum, before she leaves the following day for New York to perform at Carnegie Hall. Her performance will mark the 50th anniversary of her mother's heralded concert on that stage.

Not satisfied to simply enjoy a quiet life here in the desert, Luft and her husband -- musician Colin Freeman -- participate in the Guide Dogs of the Desert program, which trains puppies for service to the visually impaired.
