Two men who are wanted in connection with the June 6 shooting death of Ivan Ibarra Carrillo, 23, of San Jacinto, are half-brothers and they have family ties in the Coachella Valley, a sheriff's sergeant said Tuesday afternoon.

The wanted men have been identified as Juan Javier Mejia, 29, of Hemet, and Abram Daniel Palacios, 24, of San Jacinto. Homicide investigators have obtained arrest warrants in connection with Carrillo's death.

"We consider these men to be armed and dangerous," Sgt. Angel Ramos of the Riverside County Sheriff's Department said. "If anyone has information as to their whereabouts, we encourage they call 911 immediately."

Carrillo was fatally shot two weeks and five days ago near Las Rosas Road and Osprey Street, sheriff's Sgt. Jeff Buompensiero said in a statement.

About 7:10 p.m. June 6, deputies from the San Jacinto station responded to a reported assault with a deadly weapon at Las Rosas and Osprey. Upon arrival they located a male victim seated inside a vehicle at the location, Buompensiero said.

"The male victim had sustained multiple gunshot injuries," Buompensiero said. "Medical personnel responded to the scene and attempted life saving measures, but the victim succumbed to his injuries."

The victim was later identified as Carrillo. Homicide investigators obtained arrest warrants for Palacios and Mejia on Monday June 24, Buompensiero said.
