Caltrans Performing Night Work on I-10

Traffic will be slowed in both directions between Palm Springs and Banning, as Caltrans crews work evenings and overnights.

Parts of Interstate 10 between Banning and Palm Springs will be closed for pavement work nightly this week starting tonight.

The work will close alternating lanes of I-10 in both directions between
Pennsylvania Avenue and Highway 111. It will be done nightly until Saturday,
according to Caltrans.

The closure schedule is as follows:

  • 7 p.m. today to 4 a.m. Saturday, alternating lanes 1 through 4 on eastbound I-10 between Pennsylvania and Highway 111.
  • 8 p.m. today to to 5 a.m. Saturday, alternating lanes 1 through 4 on westbound I-10 between Highway 111 and Pennsylvania.
  • 7 p.m. today to 4 a.m. Saturday, alternating onramp and offramp closures on eastbound I-10 between Pennsylvania and Highway 111.
  • 8 p.m. today to to 5 a.m. Saturday, alternating onramp and offramp closures on westbound I-10 between Highway 111 and Pennsylvania.


In February, a paving miscue by Caltrans resulted in a huge Sunday
traffic jam on westbound I-10 between Palm Springs and Banning. The agency
apologized and vowed it would not happen again.
