Desert Cancer Foundation's Seventh Annual Paint El Paseo Pink Walk is Saturday

The Desert Cancer Foundation's Seventh Annual Paint El Paseo Pink Walk to raise money for cancer services is scheduled Saturday morning in Palm Desert.

The start point is at the Gardens on El Paseo, San Pablo side near Pottery Barn. Registration is at 8:30 a.m. and the walk begins at 9:30 a.m., according to organizers.

Hundreds of women, men, children and dogs are expected to take part in this year's Pimk Walk, to raise donations and breast cancer awareness, according to organizers.

"Funds are used  for breast cancer screenings and diagnostics for the uninsured and underinsured women and men in the Coachella Valley," Desert Cancer Foundation officials said.

Participants in the event include TV personality Patti Daly Caruso, a breast cancer survivor, Palm Desert Dr. Elber Camacho, medical director of the Comprehensive Cancer Center at Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs, Lew May, president  of Desert Cancer Foundation, Palm Desert Mayor Jan Harnik, and Kay Hazen of the Desert Healthcare District, which is matching donations for Desert Cancer Foundation.

The Desert Cancer Foundation, based in Palm Desert, helps low-income and uninsured women get necessary screening mammography, and diagnostics including ultrasounds, MRIs and biopsies.

El Paseo Pink Walk registration fees are $24 per person and include a T-shirt. For more info visit www.desertcancerfoundation.org.
