County Extends Heat Warnings Through Weekend

Temps of us to 114 expected; cooling centers remain open

Riverside County Department of Public Health has extended the high heat warning through this weekend for the entire county.

Along with today's announcement, the county said that cooling centers across the region will remain open. 

Vulnerable individuals, such as children and the elderly, are encouraged to visit a cool center during extended periods of high-heat days. Cool centers provide snacks and water, in addition to activities and resource information. Cool centers are open during the week. Residents should check with their local cool center for weekend hours.

People with the following symptoms should try to remain in a cool place and drink water to prevent dehydration:  

· Headache

· Dizziness

· Weakness or muscle pains

· Nausea and vomiting

 When Heat Warnings are issued, Cool centers will be opened to everyone, especially seniors, low-income individuals and families. Residency is not a requirement to visit a particular cool center. Cool centers are located throughout Riverside County and can provide water, snacks and information about transportation and resources.
